Founder Story

Built from the grocery aisle problem.

George Csakvary is a Chicago property manager, not a startup founder. Managing his own blood sugar, he logged every meal and kept finding products labeled "0 g sugar" that were loaded with sweeteners under other names: erythritol, maltitol, and many kinds of syrup.

In February 2026 he started building the tool he needed in the grocery aisle: one scan, and the label's tricks are visible. He built SugarSpy with an AI development team he orchestrates himself, and discloses that proudly, the same way the app discloses what is in your food.

Founder Quotes

In George's words.

"I wasn't trying to start a company. I was trying to figure out why a 'zero sugar' product was spiking my glucose."

George Csakvary, founder of SugarSpy

"Every scanner app gives you a grade. I didn't want a grade. I wanted to see what's actually in the box. So SugarSpy doesn't score food. It reveals it."

George Csakvary, founder of SugarSpy

"The whole thing is built on honesty: the app names the sweeteners, the privacy label says 'Data Not Collected,' and even our spokespeople are openly AI."

George Csakvary, founder of SugarSpy
